Modelling
-Lady
The lady design was
nice and was going after a bit of anime style with medium eyes and a small cute
nose. The inital design was the lady to be a Cyclopes with other characters
being some kind of mythical creature but later decided it did not work out. The
design later on went on to be based on a cute and friendly looking girl.
Modelling her body
was quick with a simple curve design and the arms were quick. The Hands a
spanned copied the previous crested and modified to fit the character. Doing
the head was easy at first but when I went into the details the reference
design I had created started to show mistakes and a lot of them, especially
when trying to sync between the front and side profile. I looked on the net for
some reference and found Scarlet Johanson's front and profile pics which I used
as reference to finish the detailing. After I showed this to my tutors they
made me do some major changes and which was the end of it. Legs was easy but
the foot was new as the design was for high heels. Since I had never seen heels
closely, I had to do a lot of research on pinterest (and now my pinterest feed
keeps showing woman footware) and Amazon
and Google looking at flare images which made the modelling process easy.

Body
Evolution of face.
Texturing, I had a
image of cloth material which I had taken earlier so I used it for the
body, while using the same wood texture
on face, hands and legs. In the colour department I used a single colour for
the dress wit a line at the back for zip. I also created three different colour
maps for the clothes to differentiate between different days. They were green
blue and pink.
UV Maps.
After texturing I
went on to hair. This was a challenge as I wanted to try the hair effects in
maya. First I used the new xgen tool took a lot of time to understand it by
looking at videos on YouTube and a 3hr lesson on Linda.com. I got the basics of
making hair and went with a minimalist style at first. After a lot of work over
a whole day I finally finished something very awesome.
The rigging wasnt
much of a challenge and went on quickly except having to figure out skin
weights which just needed care and time.
After all this, when I started animating the worst thing
happened the hair system just was not being produced by the computer cause of
some file management issue. I tried to find a fix but couldn't find one the
ones I found were too much work which I would need to do evertime I opened the
file if I skipped once it would need more work. So after getting Mad and trying
to get over it I decided to create our targets model a hair shape. Some I was
low on time at this point I went on with a simple quick look and had to be
happy with what I got but it did look good.
