Modelling the main character was fun. When i created the character design, I hadn't created a face with it so i need a reference. After looking around for a while on the net I found 2 pics of Paul Walker in front and side profile. I used it and then modified a lot and got the face done.

Development

The hand, I tried modelling the hand a few times taking images of hands from the net but nothing was quite good. So, I thought over and decided to make a single hand and copy it over to my other characters as well and modify it. This time instead of pics on the net I captured my own Hand and used it. It was hard but I modelled an OK looking hand and carried it over to the GUY Character and attached it to his arm. The Hair was also a challenge. I looked at some styles but couldn't decide on one. I later just went on and modelled a basic hair shape on the character and using mudbox, gave it a hair texture. The other parts were not so hard and quick as i had a design.


 

The texturing was easy as I had decided on it and copied the same styles of the bear, but for the clothes I created 3 different colour textures as the story had 3 different days. I looked on amazon and google for shirt designs and after a while i found some I liked. I re-created them on Photoshop and applied on the character. It looked a bit weird so I edited and made them better and that was the end of that.



 


Next was building the joints. The character design was nothing special, so the rig was a basic humanoid. The only hard(or bit over medium) was the arm. I wanted to create a Ik rig, but doing this wouldn't let me twist the hand from the arm joint. I looked over youtube where I found a fix. You create the Ik till the joint in the forearm and not the hand and just move the Ik effector node's location from its location to the hand. (youtube tutorial link- https://youtu.be/WkKx9ijydjk start around 5:00). For the facial expressions I used Blendshapes and a jaw bone joint nothing special here. The Blendshapes I created are a blink, happy mouth, sad mouth, surprised, surprised eyes, angry eyes and determined eyes. And for the controls I used a Plugin which made the job pretty quick(plug in http://www.animationmethods.com/scripts.html ).
